Lord Arthur Savile's Crime

By Constance Cox

From a short story by Oscar Wilde

Quay Theatre, Sudbury
Thursday 7 to Saturday 9 May 2026
7.30 pm.  Saturday matinee 2 pm

Director - Tim Lodge

Young Lord Arthur is told by a palm-reader (of questionable veracity) that, during his life, he is to commit a murder. In order to marry his fiancé, Sybil, with a clear conscience (!) he decides he must do this before their wedding day.  Not the brightest of aristocrats, what follows is a hilarious range of failed attempts by Arthur on the lives of his family members, all with the guidance of his faithful butler, Baines.

Old fashioned silliness to put a smile on your face and a spring in your step!

Director - Julia Frazier

Bury Theatre Workshop is proud to present its 14th year of outdoor Shakespeare in the Abbey Gardens!

The roguish Falstaff is at it again in this classic comedy. BMI challenged Falstaff attempts to seduce the already married Mistress Page and Mistress Ford but quickly learns that he is in for more than he bargained for as the two women team up to teach him a lesson. Full of trickery, secrets, and disguises (and a song or two!).  Can love win out over jealousy?

Arrive early with a chair or blanket, sun screen and a picnic for a few hours of Elizabethan silliness in the beautiful Abbey Gardens.

Please note.  We wont send you tickets but don't worry.   We'll know you've bought them and will tick you off our list on your arrival!
